How to install air ducts for ventilation

Ventilation is necessary in any room to free it from harmful discharge and supply it with oxygen. It is a technical system consisting of a list of mechanisms in which air ducts are one of the main elements, without them the uninterrupted operation of the system is impossible.

The duct is a pipe along which the air moves in the ventilation system. Its main function: to supply oxygen into the room and take the spent air.

The main varieties of air ducts

The choice of the air duct depends on the area of the room and installation goals. First of all, when choosing air ducts, it is necessary to take into account the material from which they are made:

Polypropylene plastic pipes – characterized by high strength, environmentally friendly, have lightweight, are not amenable to corrosion, durable, hermetic and affordable in price. The disadvantage is that they are not racks to external physical influences and high temperatures.

Corrugated polymer pipes reinforced with steel wire – are usually installed along with hard air ducts, light, environmentally friendly, sealed and have an acceptable price. Disadvantage: air passes through them with an increased noise level.

Aluminum or steel steel pipes of stainless alloys – durable, refractory, are not amenable to corrosion, durable. Stainless steel pipes and aluminum are high cost, galvanized steel is more affordable in price.

The design of the ducts can be different depending on the design of the building and the location of individual rooms. For large -scale production facilities, internal ducts built into the walls are installed. External ventilation is a suspended structure of pipes of different sizes.

Various air ducts are used depending on the needs of the customer:

Rectangular – the traditional type of cross section of the internal channel of the duct, conveniently fit into the interior of the room. Disadvantages: low aerodynamics, labor costs when installing. Pipes are fastened with flanges, latches, mounting corners.

Round – more in demand, as they are practical during installation, air resistance is minimal. During docking, nipple compounds or external couplings are used.

Installation of air ducts

There are features in the design of the air ducts that are important in their installation:

The presence of thermal insulation: such air ducts are used for installation in unheated rooms or outside the buildings, so that there is no condensate in cold weather inside.

Noise insulation: it is needed when installing air ducts indoors requiring minimal noise. The noise in the pipe is isolated as a result of an increase in its diameter, thickening of the walls, windings with special materials, etc.

Cleaning air ducts

The ducts need regular cleaning, this helps to maintain them in working condition. Cleaning methods:

Mechanical: using special vacuum pumps.

Chemical: using special cleaning aerosols.

Air ducts are technically complex mechanisms, a certain list of related spare parts is attached to them: transitions, plugs, tees, crosses and so on. They must correspond to the format of the pipe itself in the cross section, the material of manufacture and have sizes in accordance with the standard.
