Types of linoleum

In the construction market, the indisputable leader in sales among flooring, of course, is linoleum. This material has an affordable price and is convenient in installation, in addition, linoleum is moisture -resistant and does not require special care through the entire service life – it is enough to only remove pollution from it by means of a broom, brush and wet rags. However, it should be noted that the above characteristics relate to the flooring of polyvinyl chloride, while natural linoleum made from traffic jam, wood flour and linseed oil, on the contrary, is expensive, does not tolerate dampness and requires special care. However, natural linoleum is not particularly popular, and companies specializing in elite finishing materials supply it only by prior order.

If you walk around the construction stores or climb on the appropriate Internet sites, it is easy to find that prices in Minsk may vary more than an order of magnitude! This is explained by the fact that linoleum can have a different structure of both the basis and the main layer of PVC plastic, which significantly affects both the cost of the material and its operational qualities. For example, linoleum on a foamed basis better smooths small irregularities of the floor than a similar material on a classic fabric basis. On the other hand, on sale you can also find an inexpensive baseless linoleum, which can only be laid on an impeccably even floor.

In order for linoleum to be resistant to wear, it is made three -layer, and the highest is a special protective layer that protects the flooring from abrasion. This layer is especially persistent in “sports” and “commercial” linoleum varieties, which have the corresponding price.

If we talk about domestic linoleum, then to protect its drawing uses a lacquer coating with a thickness of less than a millimeter, which is quite enough if you do not play football on it and do not go around the house in dirty street shoes.
