Finishing materials. Which one to choose?
Rapidly developing modern technologies contribute to the expansion of the assortment of facing tiles with a variety of texture and patterns. Its appearance imitates brickwork, stone, wood, old frescoes, can display all kinds of landscapes … In a word, using tiles today you can create almost everything that can complement and significantly decorate the interior of any room.
The most popular type of facing of premises today is their decoration with ceramic tiles and porcelain tiles. There are also glass finishing tiles, polystyrene tiles, PVC tiles, but their quality leaves much to be desired, so we will not consider these types in detail here.
So, ceramic tiles … As a finishing material, it was used in time immemorial, when noble Romans and Greeks decorated their palaces with such tiles. It is made of burned clay. Throughout the history of its existence, ceramic tiles have firmly fixed the reputation of a very reliable, durable, capable of long -term operation, material, which today is almost universally used in such events as the repair of apartments and the design of houses or offices. It is resistant to low temperatures and is perfectly preserved in rooms with high humidity.
It is difficult to list tile laying options. The floors, walls, and paths in the garden, and fences are faced with ceramic tiles. Ceramic tiles are used for internal and outdoor works, for the decoration of pools, fireplaces, terraces, facades of buildings and so on. The range of use of such tiles is very wide, and the color scheme is extremely diverse.
Typically, ceramic tiles have a smooth or corrugated front side. Its back surface is covered with small notches so that the tile is well grasped with the solution. Smooth tiles covered with enamel is intended mainly for wall cladding, corrugated tiles are suitable for laying it on the floor.
As for porcelain tiles, this is a relatively new facing material invented in the seventies of the last century by large admirers of quality, beauty and harmony, – Italians. The initial purpose of this facing material is an imitation of natural stone. However, over time, porcelain tiles fell into the center of attention of designers, and today there are already quite a lot of variations of its decor.
