At the moment, you can find many options for flooring and one of them is parquet boards. As a rule, such a coating is made of wood of valuable rocks. The color and texture of the coating depends on the tree from which it is made. If you are going to make repairs of residential premises, this article is for you!
Methods of laying
The choice of the method depends on many factors. There are several different ways of laying a parquet board in total. Floating, gluing on the base, mounting to the floor with nails, if the floor is wooden, laying on the lags.
The easiest and most practical way of laying is a floating. In this case, the boards are simply glued together. In addition, if there are halves on the boards, then it is not necessary to use glue.
But laying the boards by a swimming method is carried out only if the coating area is medium or small. If the coverage area is large, the boards must be glued to the base.
Before laying the coating on a wooden floor, the base is cleaned and aligned using a grinding machine. In addition, before laying, it is advisable to lay the waterproofing layer. The panels are attached to the wooden floor, the crests are extinguished. In addition, to increase the strength of the coating, the panels can be glued together.
Laying on the lags
Lags can be described as rectangular bars. Lags are attached to the base using self -tapping screws. A waterproofing coating and plywood sheets with a displacement are laid on the lags on top. The plywood must be laid using self -tapping screws and polished the seams between the sheets. Then the panels are laid with a glue or floating way.
This laying method is slightly more complicated, but such styling looks more spectacular.
As a rule, the laying of panels is carried out at an angle of 30-40 degrees. The panels are glued over the entire length of the groove.
Laying boards on a warm floor
The most important thing that should be paid to when laying boards on a warm floor is the thickness of the boards. It is important that the boards are not too thick or too thin. Optimum thickness for panels – 13 – 15 mm.
How to lay a parquet board
Before laying, it is necessary to prepare the base – clean the floor from pollution and using a grinding machine to align the surface. In addition, surface drying is recommended.
Next, it is necessary to put a waterproofing coating – if it is necessary. The choice of waterproofing coating is completely dependent on the selected panels.
You can lay boards in various ways. When laying panels, between the wall and the boards it is necessary to leave a distance of 8-10 mm. This distance is specially used to displacement of boards under the influence of the external environment. At the last stage of work, the baseboard is strictly attached to the wall.
Floor repair
In some cases, floor repair from parquet boards is required
During operation, the boards can lose strength and sag. In this case, if the floating method was used for styling, the boards must be disassembled and the base is to align.
When in contact with moisture, the board can deform and swell. In this case, the boards will have to be replaced.
Scratches can be eliminated by a special masking pencil. To eliminate more serious defects, putty is used. After that, surface is grinded and varnish is applied at the end.
The disadvantages of this coating
For all its beauty, this coating has many disadvantages. This coating does not like moisture. When moisture gets, the boards swell and deform. After that, they are not subject to restoration, it is necessary to lay a new coating.
When moving furniture on a lacquered surface, scratches remain.
As a rule, the boards are soft, therefore, with constant pressure of the furniture, dents will remain on the surface.
And the most important drawback is a high price. The price is the main criterion when choosing any product.
The service life of parquet boards is about ten years. But if you care for the surface, then the service life can be increased to fifteen years.
