Freezing of wells
Lifting the level of groundwater, it can quite really lead to freezing the well. In most cases, the depth of freezing of wells does not exceed 50 cm, but I also come in cases with complete freezing of water in shallow wells. As for the deep wells, they rarely freeze, due to the stability of the temperature inside them. Freezing of water can carry serious problems associated with the destruction of the well and communications laid and established in it. The mass of an ice cap, which is formed on top, can reach 400 kg. And this poses a huge danger to the well, the fact is that in case of falling, due to a decrease in the level of water, it will demolish everything in its path. In addition, the very fact of freezing of water can cause the seam rupture between the well rings. There can also be a shift in the rings entailing huge problems. The freezing of the well can lead to freezing of water pipes and to a break in the power pump cable.
Even a small, but constant freezing, causes gradual destruction and aging of rings. In any case, the serious freezing of the well in the vast majority of cases entails its expensive repairs and that the inconvenience associated with the lack of water supply is important.
