Often, if you want to make repairs, we do not turn to specialists, and in the desire to save money we are engaged in the process on our own. Sometimes attempts to drill or break through the wall end deplorable – sparks, small explosions and close. This does not apply to wooden houses, in which they often make a wiring visible to the eye during construction.
Is it possible to avoid risk when repairing and not damage the wiring? Of course, yes!
On sale there is a device called the seeker of hidden wiring with its help measurement of the specific resistance that can protect you from unwanted outcomes. But it is worth noting that the cost of the device is high, especially if you use it once every few years. Shop imported and domestic seekers of hidden wiring are more suitable for professionals who are engaged in replacement repairs. And for the one who decided to make repairs and the next one is planned soon, the easiest, cheap, but effective device that can be made at home without spending a lot of money is perfect.
What will be needed?
To make a hidden wiring seeker with your own hands, you will need the most ordinary field transistor, for example, KP 103, KP 303, KP 313A. In addition, you can use imported analogues of domestic transistors.
Consider an example on the transistor KP 303a.
The best option would be the transistor’s representation with alternating resistance, which is controlled by the applied voltage. Moreover, the resistance changes between the conclusions, and the voltage is supplied to the shutter. Please note that the KP303A is equipped with an output K, which is not used for the seeker of hidden wiring.
How to determine the resistance of the transistor?
Unfortunately, the senses will not help you do this, so you will have to resort to the use of the first assistant of an electrician – an ohmmeter or device operating on the same specificity. The conclusions of the source and runoff are connected to the outputs of an ohmmeter or tester, regardless of polarity. The probes can be rewound with tape for convenience. We received a sensitive element of our device.
Now we measure the resistance. We bring to the wall and pay attention to the figures of an ohmmeter. If you see a few hundred readings on it, then the wires are far or absent in this section. As soon as a magnetic field created by electrical wiring appears around the device, the readings change to kilooms and megoma.
Important! Before using the parting created at home to search for hidden wiring, you need to create the required voltage on the wires – turn on the light and the devices in the room.
