Boeing pleads guilty to fraud and conspiracy

American aircraft manufacturer Boeing has agreed to plead guilty to conspiracy and fraud, Reuters reported, citing court documents.

The corporation has allegedly already filed the relevant documents with the US Department of Justice. The plea agreement states that the company will work with regulators to investigate the crashes of two Boeing 737 MAX aircraft.

The company also agreed to pay a fine of $243.6 million as part of the agreement. Boeing will also invest at least $455 million in improving safety compliance programs over the next three years.

Earlier, a mechanic at a Boeing subcontractor complained about the poor quality of the assembly of the aircraft’s nose cone. He filed a complaint and was fired a few months later.
