Cellar insulation

Cellar insulation

In houses with basement, the main heat loss are associated with a significant freezing of soil. In view of this, the general insulation of the house begins with the basements. First of all, the outer part of the walls of the basement is insulated. Preference should be given to heat -insulating materials that withstand prolonged contact with moisture and low temperatures.

One possible heater is extruded polystyrene foam. It has low water permeability and thermal conductivity. When calculating the thickness of the insulation layer, the type of soil is taken into account, the depth of freezing, the characteristics of the site. It is recommended to insulate the entire foundation to the ground. After the underground part of the foundation is covered with a heat insulator, it is again covered with earth.

The insulation of the inside of the basement can be hidden using any decorative coating.

Floor insulation above the basement

Before starting work, it is necessary to dry the underground space. Natural outflow and air flow are provided by ventilation holes. For their organization, they compact the soil and fall asleep with a layer of sand, the thickness of which is 15-20 cm.

Then two options are possible – insulation with the analysis of the existing floor or insulation on the side of the basement without it. Each type of work has its own order and features.
